Carema is a tiny appellation producing Nebbiolo in the northern part of Piemonte. Only a few producers exist so it is virtually unknown to American wine lovers. The best producer in the region, Ferrando, was the very first wine brought into the USA by now legendary importer Rosenthal. These are some of the most elegant expressions of Nebbiolo, rivaling Barolo for longevity and purity. There are two vintages of two different wines available. The 2011's are expressive and extremely easy to enjoy. The white label has more of the alpine rusticity while the black label has a depth and richness that makes it a great choice for food. 2013 is one of the best vintages in years and both the white and black label will provide incredible drinking pleasure for the next 10+ years.
